Laurel Hill Baptist Church was constituted the first Baptist church in Augusta County on Monday, July 28, 1851.  Thirty-four people gathered that day to approve a church covenant, constitution and by-laws.  The history of Laurel Hill was published in 1976 in "HIStory of the Laurel Hill Baptist Church, 1851-1976" by Sally O. and Wayne D. Hannah (who was pastor at Laurel Hill at that time.)
